easyJet has a nice perk when it comes to hand luggage: the free piece of luggage, at 45 × 36 × 20 cm, is noticeably more generous than with most low-cost airlines. In our guide you'll find all the current easyJet hand luggage rules 2026 – the dimensions and weights, when the large cabin bag is free, and how to avoid paying extra at the gate.
easyJet hand luggage 2026 – the rules at a glance
When it comes to hand luggage, easyJet distinguishes between two pieces: a small one, which is always free, and a large cabin bag, which is only free with certain fares or certain seats.
1. The small hand luggage item (free)
Free with every fare and stowed under the seat in front of you:
- Dimensions: 45 × 36 × 20 cm (including wheels and handles)
- Weight: up to 15 kg (you must be able to lift it yourself)
- Storage: under the seat in front of you
- Suitable options: underseater bags, compact cabin backpacks or small trolleys
2. The large cabin bag (only free with certain fares)
The larger piece for the overhead locker:
- Dimensions: 56 × 45 × 25 cm (including wheels and handles)
- Weight: up to 15 kg
- Free with: the Inclusive Plus fare (formerly FLEXI, only as long as there's room in the overhead locker), a self-selected Up Front or Extra Legroom seat, and easyJet Plus membership
- Otherwise: add it on via the easyJet app, with the price depending on route, flight and booking time (€70 at the gate), including Speedy Boarding
- Suitable options: cabin trolleys – easyJet's generous allowance even comfortably fits standard 55 × 40 × 23 cm suitcases
Good to know: The free 45 × 36 × 20 cm bag is large enough for a short trip – so with easyJet you can travel surprisingly comfortably without paying extra. If you need the large trolley, book it in advance via the app; it's significantly more expensive at the gate.

If your hand luggage doesn't fit within the booked dimensions, or you haven't added the large cabin bag, the item will be checked into the hold at the gate for a fee – €70 per item. That's significantly more than booking online in advance.
Money-saving tip: Is the free 45 × 36 × 20 cm bag enough? Then you don't need to add anything. If not, book the large cabin bag online instead of at the gate and choose a suitcase that fits the exact dimensions (maximum 56 × 45 × 25 cm including wheels).

5 money-saving tips for your easyJet hand luggage

- Pack to the exact dimensions: Wheels and handles count too – better to stay just under 56 × 45 × 25 cm.
