Cabin Bag 40x30x20 cm – Compact Luggage for Under the Seat
Many airlines allow a small bag up to 40x30x20 cm on board free of charge, in addition to the large cabin baggage – the so-called personal item or underseat luggage. With low-cost airlines such as Ryanair, EasyJet and Wizz Air, this size is often the only free hand luggage included in the basic fare. At Markenkoffer.de you'll find a wide selection of suitable bags, backpacks and compact trolleys.
Which Airlines Allow 40x30x20 cm?

Wizz Air – 40x30x20 cm, free with the basic fare
Eurowings – 40x30x25 cm as a personal item

Frequently Asked Questions About Underseat Hand Luggage
What can I pack in a small 40x30x20 bag?
A small bag of this size typically fits: a wallet, phone, tablet or small laptop, travel documents, snacks and a thin jacket. Liquids in a 1-litre bag (max. 100 ml per container) must be shown separately at the security check.
Does Ryanair check the small bag size?
Yes, Ryanair checks the dimensions at the gate. The bag must fit into the sizing frame (40x20x25 cm). Bags that are too large will need to be checked in for a fee. Tip: choose a bag that's slightly smaller than the maximum size.
Which hand luggage works for Ryanair without extra charges?
With the Ryanair basic fare, only one small bag up to 40x20x25 cm is included free of charge. For the larger 55x40x20 cm cabin bag, you need Priority Boarding (for an extra fee). Our underseat backpacks fit exactly within Ryanair's size limits.
Does a laptop fit in a 40x30x20 bag?
Yes, most 13-inch laptops fit easily into underseat backpacks. For 15-inch laptops, it can be a tight fit – check the internal dimensions of the laptop compartment. Many Samsonite and American Tourister models feature dedicated laptop compartments.
Underseat bag or cabin trolley – which is better?
An underseat bag is ideal as the sole piece of hand luggage under a basic fare, or as a second bag. A cabin trolley (55x40x20) offers more space but costs extra with low-cost airlines. For short trips of 2–3 days, a well-packed underseat backpack is often all you need.
