Like many airlines in 2026, Turkish Airlines has tightened its rules on lithium batteries:
- Carry-on only – never in checked baggage; keep it within reach under the seat in front of you, not in the overhead bin
- Maximum 2 power banks per person, up to 100 Wh each; Turkish Airlines does not permit larger power banks
- Use and charging on board is prohibited
- Smart luggage with a fixed, non-removable battery is not permitted

Gate fee & excess baggage
Carry-on baggage that doesn't comply with the rules will be loaded into the cargo hold at the gate for a fee. For checked baggage, the following applies: individual pieces with a total dimension (L+W+H) between 158 and 292 cm are considered oversized and cost extra – Turkish Airlines will show you the amount depending on the route at the time of booking. Tip: have your carry-on baggage checked and tagged at check-in.
